US Clears Cab Beacons for Self-Driving Trucks

US regulators granted Aurora Innovation and Kodiak AI a five-year exemption letting self-driving trucks use cab-mounted warning beacons instead of roadside reflective triangles when they stop. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration change removes a major safety barrier both firms said had blocked commercial robot freight, because there is no human driver aboard to place those warning triangles within ten minutes of a roadside stop.
