UK's third-largest steelworks to be nationalised by government

Ministers plan to formally acquire Speciality Steel UK (SSUK), which employs about 1,300 people, after rejecting a private bidder over financing concerns. The government assumed initial control of SSUK last year, following the High Court's order for its liquidation. Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds told MPs this public acquisition will preserve strategic control and allow for a full assessment of future opportunities.
