HS2 is close to resetting its final two major construction contracts, a move chief executive Mark Wild says could avoid up to £2bn of future cost risk. He told MPs yesterday that talks with the Balfour Beatty Vinci and Skanska Costain Strabag joint ventures should conclude within two months. They are building 90 kilometres of route through the West Midlands and the London tunnels.
