Two police officers lost their jobs due to gross misconduct after tasering and pepper-spraying Donald Burgess, a 92-year-old amputee with dementia. PCs Stephen Smith and Rachel Comotto used "unjustified and excessive use of force" in June 2022 at a St Leonards-on-Sea care home. Mr Burgess, who was in a wheelchair and holding a dinner knife, died 22 days later after contracting Covid.
