Longer platforms, more trains: Manchester Airport station gets £115m

Longer platforms, more trains: Manchester Airport station gets £115m

Wikimedia Commons

Manchester Airport's railway station will get a £115m upgrade starting this winter, Network Rail says, with work running until 2028. All three platforms will be extended so longer and more frequent trains can call there, alongside new track layouts and signalling. The first big job comes on 6 December, when the station shuts for a whole day and replacement buses run to and from Wilmslow.
