Badenoch pledges to scrap inheritance tax on family homes

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch unveiled proposals for individuals to bequeath their family residences free from inheritance tax. The change would allow married couples to leave up to £1 million tax-free, up from the current £325,000 individual allowance. Estates exceeding £325,000, or £500,000 if a property is bequeathed to direct descendants, are presently subject to a 40% levy.
