Turkish police raided the Istanbul headquarters of Halk TV, a pro-opposition channel, on Wednesday, halting its live broadcasts. Turkish media reported 11 people were taken into custody in a probe linked to the channel's chairman, Cafer Mahiroğlu, who faces bribery, tender-rigging and money-laundering allegations. Authorities also appointed a new administrator to run the channel itself. Opposition leader Özgür Özel called the raid weak and cowardly.
