Mauritius imposed an overnight curfew after the worst rioting on the Indian Ocean island in decades. Protests over water shortages and the cost of living turned violent on Friday, when police shot and wounded a woman at a roadblock. The officer has been arrested and remanded in custody. Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam ordered the curfew on Tuesday, and schools and public transport were also closed.
