Trump threatens to bomb ally Oman over Hormuz deal

President Trump has threatened to bomb Oman, a US ally, if it "gets in the way" of American efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, as a 60-day deadline for a wider Iran peace deal expired without agreement. Iran separately said it had struck an understanding with Oman on shipping routes through the strait. Democratic senator Tim Kaine said he would introduce a resolution barring military action against Oman when Congress returns.
