Trump claims total control of Hormuz, demands Iran pay up

Donald Trump says the US Navy has cleared the Strait of Hormuz of mines and now holds complete control of the waterway, months after imposing a naval blockade on Iranian ports. He has also demanded Iran pay reparations for attacks linked to the country, reversing Tehran's own compensation claims. Iran insists the strait stays shut until Washington lifts the blockade and withdraws its forces, and oil prices jumped on the escalation.
