TikTok US App to Split from Global Operations

TikTok has finalized a deal to separate its US app from its global operations. This agreement establishes a new US entity, ensuring American user data is handled within the US, retrained using only US data, and protected to meet American regulations. The move addresses national security concerns and averts a potential ban that was initially floated in 2020 and was due to take effect in January 2025. The joint venture will operate independently with a majority-American board.
