Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has defended the way he hosted Monday's Ballon d'Or ceremony, saying people were getting excited about nothing. He was criticised for teasing Lamine Yamal about winning a third young player award, correcting co-host Kate Scott's pronunciation and admitting he wanted Kylian Mbappé to beat winner Harry Kane. Henry said he was a big fan of Yamal and loved watching him.
