Spanish bars may shut outdoor areas during hottest hours

British holidaymakers in Spain might find bar and restaurant terraces closed between 1pm and 6pm due to extreme heat. An update to Spain's national labour agreement for hospitality urges businesses to protect workers from temperatures over 40C. Employers could face fines of around €50,000 if they fail to adequately protect staff working outdoors.
