Spain arrests 78, dismantles major Mediterranean smuggling network
Spanish police announced on Friday they have broken up one of the largest criminal networks smuggling migrants and drugs across the Mediterranean. The group allegedly used high-speed boats to move synthetic drugs to Algeria and smuggle over 2,000 migrants back to Spain, making more than €24 million. Authorities seized 18 boats worth over €5 million and made 78 arrests in Spain and Algeria.
