South West students received 6,500 free NHS meningitis B jabs this summer
Young people in the South West have received approximately 6,500 MenB vaccine doses this summer, with first-year university students facing a seven-fold increased risk. The "one-off" NHS programme targets school leavers who missed the jab as children because it wasn't on the schedule before 2015. Two doses offer the best protection, with first jabs available until December 2026.
