Kent hospital declares critical incident as every bed fills up
East Kent Hospitals declared a critical incident at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford after beds filled and A&E demand surged. The trust warned of “extremely long waits” and asked people to use 111, GPs or urgent treatment centres unless life is threatened. Planned appointments stay on unless patients are contacted; national bed occupancy was already above 92% in August.
