Lloyds, Halifax apps crash for thousands: What's causing frequent outages?

Almost 3,000 people flagged the issue on Downdetector, an outage tracking website, early on Wednesday afternoon. Lloyds Banking Group, which also manages Scottish Widows, told customers they are trying to fix the problem as quickly as possible. Some frustrated users threatened to switch banks entirely, with one complaining the crashes happen far too often.
