Slovakia wants to ban social media for children under 16

Ministers approved the draft law on Wednesday, aiming to shield teenagers from digital addiction, peer pressure and radical content. If the national parliament signs it off, tech platforms must verify a person's age before allowing them to create a new profile. These checks would have to follow European Union digital rules, ensuring companies cannot collect extra personal data.
