A Russian missile strike on an apartment block in northern Ukraine killed 19 people, including five children, as families slept early on Wednesday. Three of the children killed in Pryluky, east of Kyiv, were one-year-olds, officials said. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky called it one of Russia's "most vile strikes".
