Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly proposed a summit with Donald Trump and Xi Jinping to settle the Ukraine war, without Volodymyr Zelenskyy taking part. The Wall Street Journal said the idea came during a 9 October phone call that also produced a deal letting Moscow sell diesel. The unconfirmed meeting could take place at November's Apec summit in Shenzhen, as Trump defends easing Russian sanctions.
