President Macron seeks new energy routes avoiding the Strait of Hormuz

French President Emmanuel Macron has called for developing alternative energy routes to the Strait of Hormuz. The Middle East conflict has led to most shipping in the crucial strait stopping due to renewed tension. Before the Iran war started on 28 February, approximately 20% of the global crude and liquefied natural gas supply passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
