Pichai signs Pentagon AI deal despite staff revolt

Google has agreed to give the Pentagon access to its Gemini AI for classified military work, just one day after 580 of its own staff demanded the deal be killed. Workers warned in an open letter on Monday that the technology could be used in "inhumane or extremely harmful ways". The contract permits use for "any lawful government purpose", mirroring deals already signed by OpenAI and Elon Musk's xAI.
