Billy Loughnane, 20, was crowned Britain's champion Flat jockey at Ascot on British Champions Day, becoming the youngest holder of the title since Charlie Elliott in 1923. The Irish rider beat five-time champion Oisin Murphy after riding more than 220 winners this year, including the 2,000 Guineas. He now has his sights on Sir Gordon Richards' 1947 record of 269 winners in a calendar year.
