Pensioners have until Sunday to opt out of Winter Fuel Payment

Pensioners earning more than £35,000 annually can decline this year's Winter Fuel Payment, with a deadline of 11.59pm on Sunday, September 20. HMRC will automatically reclaim the £100 to £300 grant through the tax system if they don't. The Department for Work and Pensions said most eligible people will get their payment in November or December 2026.
