Peers call for ban on toxic pet flea treatments harming UK wildlife
A new parliamentary report has concluded that over-the-counter flea treatments for pets should be banned due to chemicals harming the environment. Two common chemicals, imidacloprid and fipronil, already banned in UK pesticides, are found in rivers and can impact bird nests. A Lords committee is urging the government to act, recommending vets provide prescribed preventative treatment instead.
