Pakistan restricts foreign media reporting outside major cities
Pakistan has introduced new rules requiring international journalists, including Pakistani nationals, to get permission to report anywhere except Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore. On-the-ground reporting by foreign media will depend on official approval, which critics say will limit independent news. The government claims the guidelines, issued on Sunday, are for administrative verification and access, not to restrict media.
