Oxford Study Links Chicken Farming To Food Poisoning Bacteria

Oxford University researchers found industrial chicken farming has driven a hundredfold rise in Campylobacter bacteria spreading between wild birds and commercial flocks. The study, led by Professor Sam Sheppard and published in journal PNAS, analysed genomes from 30 countries collected since 1979. Campylobacter causes three and a half times more UK gastroenteritis cases than all other monitored foodborne bacteria combined.
