Oscar Piastri has dismissed suggestions that McLaren could be disadvantaged in Formula 1’s upcoming regulation cycle because it operates as a customer team. The Australian said the partnership with Mercedes continues to deliver strong performance, despite the manufacturer’s fully integrated works structure. He also played down concerns over recent disruptions to McLaren’s testing programme, insisting they were unrelated to its power unit deal, while noting the positive early speed shown by Mercedes during shakedown running in Barcelona.
