Oil prices rise 2% after Donald Trump demands war compensation from Iran

The cost of crude hit its highest level since July as hopes fade for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping lane. The American president announced on Monday that Tehran must pay for lives lost in recent conflicts before a peace deal can happen. Only six ships used the Middle Eastern route on Monday, which is roughly half the normal daily average.
