NHS to Trial Multi-Cancer Blood Tests in 200 GP Surgeries

NHS to Trial Multi-Cancer Blood Tests in 200 GP Surgeries

Dotodot, CC BY-SA 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons

New blood tests that check for several cancers at once will be offered in around 200 GP surgeries in England as part of an NHS trial. More than 20,000 patients aged 45 and over with symptoms such as stomach pain or persistent bloating can take part. The tests aim to spot hard-to-find cancers such as pancreatic, liver and ovarian much earlier, before they have spread.
