Mother Told to Book Appointment to Give Birth to Dead Baby

A North Tyneside mother was sent home from hospital while still carrying her stillborn daughter and told to phone later to book a slot to give birth. Danielle Brown had earlier been discharged despite signs of pre-eclampsia. After she insisted on a scan, doctors found baby Maisie had died. Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust has apologised, admitting aspects of her care fell short of expected standards.
