Next UK fighter jet engine moves closer to ground testing

The engine demonstrator for Britain's next combat aircraft is nearing ground testing after design reviews, according to Rolls-Royce. The demonstrator is being developed by a consortium of Rolls-Royce, Italy's Avio Aero, and Japan's IHI Corporation for the Global Combat Air Programme. The work aims to collect data and reduce risk for the wider programme, which targets an in-service date around 2035.
