New Zealand hotels are booking up two years before a total solar eclipse
Dunedin hasn't seen this kind of complete daytime darkness since 1163, long before humans even settled there. When the moon blocks the sun on 22 July 2028, local officials expect roughly 35,000 tourists to crowd into the southern city. The nearly three-minute spectacle will take place about 10 days after the nation marks Matariki, the traditional Māori new year.
