The number of new homes registered to be built in the UK fell 13% in the third quarter compared with a year earlier, the National House Building Council says. Just 26,231 homes were registered, down from 30,279. Private sector registrations fell 8%, while rental and affordable homes dropped 23%. The NHBC warned the industry is at a 'critical point', with demand fragile and affordability stretched.
