Chancellor John Healey is preparing a green levy on imported petrol and diesel for Wednesday's Budget, according to a Telegraph report. The tax is meant to help British refineries compete with overseas rivals that face lower net zero costs at home. Drivers could see pump prices rise as a result, adding pressure on household budgets already squeezed by fuel-driven UK inflation of 3.5% in September.
