Rights holders for Elvis Presley's music have sued AI company Anthropic in the US, claiming it trained its Claude chatbot on 274 of the singer's songs without permission. The lawsuit, filed on 23 October, seeks up to $150,000 per song, around $41m in total, and alleges that Claude can reproduce or closely imitate the lyrics despite its safeguards. The case adds to music industry pressure.
