Netanyahu mocks UK as the "Islamic Republic of Britain"

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has mocked Britain as the "Islamic Republic of Britain" during a podcast appearance, contrasting today's press coverage with a journalist who covered the 1967 war favourably for Israel. He was echoing a 2024 remark by US Vice President JD Vance, before linking the phrase to Israel's war against Iran's nuclear programme. An Israeli opposition lawmaker criticised the comments as reckless towards a major ally.
