Nearly 600 practices abandon NHS dentistry over ten years
Around 600 dental practices in England have stopped doing NHS work in the last decade, with some areas now having almost no NHS dentists. The reduction has made securing NHS appointments considerably more difficult for individuals, especially across the South West and East of England. Dentists say the current NHS contracts are losing money, forcing many to go private.
