Munich's Oktoberfest begins with mayor tapping first beer keg

The globe's biggest folk festival began its 191st iteration on Saturday, as Mayor Dominik Krause tapped the initial keg in two strokes. Thousands of revelers, many dressed in traditional Bavarian attire, occupied the drinking marquees at Munich's Theresienwiese fairground. About 6 million visitors are expected over 16 days, through October 4, with tightened security measures including AI-powered cameras.
