Birmingham City Council has backed a motion to consider pulling its money out of investments linked to Israel. Independent councillor Nosheen Khalid, part of the ruling coalition, called for a six-month review of holdings by the council and the West Midlands Pension Fund, with the option to withdraw on human rights grounds. The vote comes as Israeli strikes on Gaza continue despite last year's ceasefire.
