Mount Etna eruption in Sicily stops flights at Catania Airport

Mount Etna, a volcano in Sicily, erupted on Monday morning, causing Catania Airport to suspend landings until at least 4pm. An intense emission of volcanic ash created an eruption cloud estimated to be 4 kilometres high. Flights are currently being diverted to Palermo because of the activity.
