MI5 Won't Face Contempt Case Despite Admitting It Lied to Courts

UK Government, OGL v1.0, via Wikimedia Commons

Senior judges have ruled that MI5 and its officers will not face contempt of court proceedings, even though the spy agency admitted giving false evidence to three courts about an abusive informant known as Agent X. The Lady Chief Justice and two other judges said such a case would be too complex to manage, but police could still investigate individual officers for possible criminal offences.
