Meta and Walmart Write the Rulebook for Shopping AI Agents

Meta, Walmart, Stripe and Bret Taylor's startup Sierra are publishing an open personal agent protocol to govern how AI agents deal with businesses. Taylor, who leads the effort and chairs OpenAI, says it will let companies tell bots from people and see what agents do on their sites. The push follows the viral rise of Meta's Muse personal agent. OpenAI and Anthropic have not joined.
