Met Police using new test kits to seize illegal e-bikes and scooters
London's police are using portable "rolling roads" technology to quickly measure if e-bikes and e-scooters go faster than the legal 15.5mph limit. Operation Lexand has seized over 2,500 illegal electric two-wheelers so far in 2026, exceeding last year's total. Commanders say the crackdown has nearly halved phone theft in the West End.
