French President Emmanuel Macron drew criticism when pictures emerged of him jet skiing on the Riviera during severe heatwaves and wildfires. Opposition leaders deemed the images unsuitable, suggesting he appeared detached from citizens experiencing drought and high temperatures. Paris Match magazine, which published the photos, defended his holiday as "work-focused".
