Macron and Starmer host 49-nation Hormuz summit

Shipping firms and consumers hit by higher prices could see relief if the international plan works. Macron and Starmer chaired a Paris summit of 49 nations on Friday to plan a neutral mission securing Gulf merchant shipping. The US and Israel were not invited. France, Belgium and the Netherlands offered mine-clearing capacity. A follow-up planning meeting is set for London next week.
