Researchers have identified a genetic alteration in male tissue that could indicate the initial stages of cancer formation. University of Arizona researchers studied 1,000 tissue samples from 405 men and found Y chromosome loss in normal-looking tissue next to tumours. Y chromosome loss could help identify hidden cancer risks, particularly in areas a biopsy might miss.
