Lindsey Vonn airlifted to hospital following Winter Olympics crash

US ski star Lindsey Vonn has been taken to hospital by helicopter after a heavy fall early in her downhill race at the Winter Olympics in Cortina. The 41-year-old crashed just seconds into her run after returning to competition from retirement. She had chosen to race despite suffering a torn ACL little more than a week earlier. Reports say she broke her left leg in the accident, sparking debate over whether officials should have allowed her to start while already injured.
