Lib Dems want all new UK homes to have air conditioning

The Liberal Democrats' proposal comes as British homes are seen as dangerously unprepared for rising temperatures, with over 2,700 people dying in May and June heatwaves. The party's "climate ready" programme would make cooling systems a legal requirement for new builds. Tim Farron, their environment spokesperson, says the government must act to protect families.
