Italy shuts its borders to Spain over migrant crisis
Italy has ordered its sea and air borders with Spain closed, suspending free movement under Schengen after thousands of migrants swam into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta from Morocco. The move follows a day of threats from Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Spain says at least nine people died attempting the crossing. Madrid has summoned Italy's ambassador and sent troops to reinforce Ceuta as the diplomatic rift deepens.
